THE INTERNET IS PISSING ME OFF!!!!!

Well I'm finally going to bitch about my internet service.

Back a few years ago, I finally made the change to broadband from dial up. At first I went everywhere and looked at everything and realised that broadband was not all it's cracked up to be.

I couldn't watch youtube any faster than I had on dial up and I still couldn't watch other videos on websites without it taking a while.

A few months back, I decided to up my speed for an extra $10 a month. And yet, it's not much better. Sure I can watch Scott Pape, The Barefoot Investor on CNBC without problems, but I can't watch his Tribe Talks videos he set up through Vimeo, or any of the videos I post on this blog bizarrely enough and youtube has gotten worse.

I can't watch a video, ANYWHERE unless it stops, buffers, and never moves again. I've come up with a youtube technique. Where I start the video, it stops, I move the little knob further along, press play, then take the knob back to where it stopped, and it starts playing again.

But I can't keep doing this, it's ridiculous. And yes, I clear my cookies and refresh, ALOT!

And as for the cost of wireless, for Christ's sake, it's pissing expensive so what's the point really.

So if anyone knows about computer speak where speed and MBs are concerned, let me know if I've got a good plan, or if you've got a good plan yourself, my deets are below.

I started on - ADSL1500/256kbps - 12GB for $59.95 per month.

I changed to - ADSL20000/1000kbps or 8000/384kbps - 12GB for $69.95 per month.

So I'm begging God to send someone to help coz I've had enough.

  1. Hubby is a techno geek and works from home so we have to have the fastest service.

I can imagine why you would be frustrated.

  2. Ah dang, I would go insane if I had to do that knob technique on Youtube. Maybe talk with the Internet provider and bitch 'em out and say, "I'm paying this much, I demand fast service!" And I'm in Canada and get specific Internet from a local company so I can't be of much help, but I hope it all gets sorted out soon so you can enjoy your vids in peace!

  4. In a gist, what I've got is :

cable + telephone (by cable) + Internet combined for a low price/month.

    * My Internet connection is called TGV for Très Grande Vitesse which translate to Very Fast Speed with 30 Mbit/s (but you can have TGV with 50 Mbit/s).

    * I also have 100 GB per month that I have a hard time using up completely lol That Internet cost 65,95$ per month but with the package I've got (cable+telephone+Internet) it's approximately the half of that price.

    * So my package is a "trio supra" (107,95$/month) but I have it for the "intermediary" price which is 87,95$/month.

I don't know the company in Australia and what they offer with what price but you can easily bargain a deal with your provider. I often have to bargain or "threaten" to switch to a better provider if they refuse to make a deal for whatever services. That's how I got my TGV Internet and the free standard cable on my other TV. They don't want to loose your money so they'll bend to please you!!! Before TGV, I had the "intermediary" speed (128 Kbits) and it wasn't so bad but the videos would take time to load just like you explained and the download speed for other things was a pain in the arse!!! My new Internet connection went with a new modem and that made a huge difference so I don't know if you should check that also with your provider?

Hope this helps?! I don't know how different the services/prices are in your neck of the wood!

  5. Cyn - does that mean I need more GB?

My point is I have no idea what the hell all this means - ADSL1500/256kbps - 12GB

    ADSL20000/1000kbps or 8000/384kbps - 12GB

So is that fast? Or am I still gonna have a pain in the neck?

  6. oou wee girlfriend, you sure did do your research with that large movie list.

I do not like disasterous movies...they make anxious and uncomfortable, however I did hear that 2012 was a good movie!

  7. Well it turns out I fixed my own problem.

Gave the pc an all mighty clear out of crap and now that I have 200mbs free, I can watch videos on youtube.

So there's a lesson peeps, if your pc is full of shit like pics of your gorgeously gorgeous husband, Italian stallion lover, boyfriends, 364 page novels and general crap, then you won't get to watch videos.
