Young Victorian boy who was "accidentally" shot by his "best friend".

I want to add to something I said in my vlog yesterday. This is about the 16 year old who was "accidentally" shot in the head by his "friend". this was one of the stories.

Ryan De Angelis and his friend, both 16, were hunting rabbits on a private property in Merriang, about 50 kilometres south-east of Wangaratta, when they spotted a fox about 6.45pm.
The teenagers were tracking the animal through telescopic sights on their small-calibre rifles when the other boy fired a shot that struck his mate in the back of the head. One of the boys had a .22-calibre rifle, while the other had a .17-calibre rifle. Ryan was standing a short distance ahead of his friend and to the side when the bullet struck him. They’d been on a hill paddock opposite the house where they were staying, and at some stage they’ve spotted a fox. Both of the young boys had a shot at the fox. The deceased had the first shot and the second boy shot at the fox whilst the deceased was in close proximity, and somewhere along the way a bullet struck him in his head. Ryan suffered a critical head injury and was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he died about 10pm.Detective Sergeant Kevin Coughlan said the Wodonga boy’s family had been staying with their long-time friends at the property on Merriang South Road. The boys’ parents were at the house not far from the shooting scene when they heard cries for help.

‘‘This is just an extremely unlucky, bad accident that’s going to have consequences for a long time to come for everyone involved. They have to come to terms with it, and the human emotions that come with it,’’ Detective Sergeant Coughlan said. The boys, who had hunted together previously, had gone shooting for rabbit just before dinner time. ‘‘The young fellow we were speaking to last night was a responsible young boy. It’s just a tragic set of circumstances.’’

Rural Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman Gabrielle Degenhardt said paramedics received a 000 call just after 7pm to a report of a person being shot in the eye. ‘‘The area was up in the hills on private property,’’ she said. The boy was flown from Myrtleford to the Royal Melbourne Hospital about 9pm, but died an hour later.
Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia national president Bob Green said fatal hunting accidents such as last night’s were extremely rare, and could be prevented if the proper rules were abided by. It is the second fatal hunting accident involving a teenager in the same area in a matter of months.
In July, 19-year-old Nick Welch was shot dead when his friend mistook him for a deer while on a hunting trip at Noorongong, south-east of Wodonga. The teenager, from Thurgoona in NSW, had become separated from the group when his friend fired upon him with a shotgun in fading light.
And last month, a New Zealand high school teacher was shot dead by a hunter who mistook her for a deer in Turangi, in the North Island’s centre. Rosemary Margaret Ives, a 25-year-old maths and science teacher, was brushing her teeth while on a camping holiday at a Department of Conservation site when she was shot dead on October 22.
Now, as I said in my vlog, I thought an animal ran away after the first shot. A fox or rabbit is certainly NOT going to hang around to be shot at again. So the shooting being an "accident" seems really iffy to me.
Now, the lesson should be, don't go hunting when it's getting dark people. If you do that you're bloody stupid!

I don't know how they can mistake it either, that's what makes me think is wasn't an "accident".
